Epilogue

The 47th IChO ended, we had wonderful time together in Baku and I met a lot of lovely people. I will always remember these 10 days. I know I will miss it, especially the people.
Our flight was comfortable, everything was all right, except my luggage was damaged a bit. I will need a new suitcase, hopefully the Turkish Airlines will solve it.
Our parents were waiting in the airport and they were extremely happy for us. I'm looking forward to the next years' olympiads and I will write this blog on them too.

Closing ceremony, results

Today we had the Closing Ceremony in the Heydar Aliyev Center. Now we didn't sit together with the mentors, they were sitting in the back of the auditorium.
Before going in, we took countless photos with guides and other teams, mostly with our flags in front of us.

We saw a greaít break dance performance and several dance and music performances before and between the medals. The only wierd thing was, that they started giving a medal and they started it from the best one of those, like the best bronze medalist, than the second one, third one, etc. It should have been in the other direction, isn't it?
Anyways, we got hree medals:

Dávid Péter Kovcs - Gold
Áron Ricardo Perez-Lopez - Silver
Me - Bronze

The first four were the Chinese team and the absolute first got the chance to say some words to us after getting his special awards. He looked surprised, but said some meaningful and good things.

Finally we went to Gulustan, to have the Farewell Party, which was pretty much like the reunion party, but fortunately it was longer.

Dinner in the city

Today we had a wonderful dinner in Cafe City. I tried a kinda traditional dish, lamb kebab. It was delicious.

And when we recieved the bill, we discovered that the sructure of benzene is on the 50 manat bill.

On the way back to the buses, we saw a lot of fountains, shops and finally people.

When we arrived to the buses, we had to wait about an hour for every team to arrive. This was the best time to take photos of the city in the night.
We saw the fames of the Flaming Towers.

Megafun - casino for children

In the Megafun, we got a 2 hour ticket and we could use pretty buch everything with it, except bowling and billiard. There were tons of games, machines and everything for children younger than we are. It turned out to be fun, because some of the madhines gave us tickets, which could be exchanged to gifts at the end.
It pretty much worked like a casino for childre, with a slight difference: you cannot lose, only by buying the two hour card and getting some minimal gift at the end. (And of course you can enjoy getting it)
Some of the bachines gave 10-20, but there was one causing grat inflation with giving over 40 mostly with 120 at maximum. We understood how it works and got a ton of tickets.

Later we had to exchange them to get a bill with the number of tickets put in the machine.

Finally we bought action figures for the little brother of David, because there was absolutely nothing for our age.

Now we are going to the center and we are free to go aroung with our guides and have dinner there. If we dont want, we could eat in the hotel when we get back. Of course we will eat here, I want to try it and I would just starve until 10-11 pm when we get back to the hotel.

Running through a museum

Yesterday's disco party was fun, but sadly it was ended half an hour earlier than expected.

We just arived to the hotel from a museum, where we could see things about the county's history. It is installed in a house, that belonged to a rich local man, before past political changes. We got to know, that this person was born with nothing, but got rich with oil mining.
The house was nice, I liked the things displayed. Sadly we were running through half of it, than left, because we needed to get back for lunch on time.

After lunch, we will visit a place called Megafun, hopefully to have (mega) fun.

On the way I saw this over the enterance of another museum:

Baku eye

Today we visited a fary wheel. It is just like the London Eye, but smaller (and it's in Baku, of course).
We had to wait, because only 8 people could get into one cabin. We were at the end of the queue.

I pretty much liked it, made a lot of pictures from up there. We could see the oil in the sea well from there.

After that, we walked to our buses through a long pedestrian street, called Bulvar.

We saw very few people there, but  more plants and buildings.
Finally we arrived to our buses and waited for everyone to get there.

We will have free time all afternoon and disco party from 11 pm until midnight. Hopefully it won't be ended earlier.

Short reunion party

This evening we were transported to Gulustan, where we had the reunion party with the montors. The food was tasty and the service was nice too. After most of us finished eating, they started traditional music and the guides were dancing around the hall.

From this point, the music never stopped. I tried the national dance, it was fun. I rather went out to the teracce to talk with other teams' mentors.
The scenery was beautyful from the teracce, we could see the city center's lights.

After staying a bit out there, I decided to do back and dance, because they changed the national music to modern music. On the way, I was caught up in a conversation and after some minutes the music stopped. Our guide came and told me to leave, because the party is over. It was really short and we had to go directly to the rooms upon arrival and guides were going around the houses again.-

Theoretical disaster

Today's theoretical edam generally a disaster. It was long, hard and I couldn't finish it. Some tasks were easy, for example one of the organic and the analytics.
The good patrt is, that we will have two days of fun before the closing ceremony. Today evening, we will meet our mentors on the Reunion party and will have a fancy dinner with them. We will be able to ask about the right answers for today's exam.

Today I brought the camera to the university and made a lot of pictures on the way. The landscape is really different from the highly populated parts, that we saw so far.

The museum of wierd art

Today we visited two museums: firstly a carpet museum then a "modern art" museum.
The first one was nice, I liked the carpets, however their history was boring, so I explored again without the museum's guide.

The building was even more interesting. it looked like a giant carpet wrapped up. From the end of it, the sea could be seen.

I wrote in the guestbook in Hungarian, dont know if anyone will read it in the future.

The other one was wierd and boring. I liked some of the pictures displayed, but most of them were just waste of energy and attention.

Maybe someone likes them.

After lunch we stayed int hotel and had free time. We were prepearing for tomorrow's exam. I hope it will go well.
